emcee bootcamp: mastering the art of hosting
Think of any award show or ceremonial event you've ever seen or been to. Now begin to imagine all of the elements behind the scenes. Are there photographers, videographers, a live audience, a livestream? Are there performance cues and a list of people to be introduced? Are their bios to read or memorize? What if there's a fire alarm or a pregnant woman's water breaks? Or what if the power goes out? Does the venue charge an exorbitant amount of money for every minute a scheduled event runs overtime? Are you prepared to host?
Being a host means being involved, informed, adaptable, entertaining, and focused yet at ease in order to contribute to the overall energy or mood and flow of an event. In this practical workshop, participants will hone their chops and rename their uncomfortable zone through direct exercises as we select and assemble the art of hosting like a jig-saw puzzle: one piece at a time.
